Poor weather procedures
Forest School sessions take place in all weathers except for high winds (generally above 25-31mph – Strong Breeze on Beaufort Scale) or thunderstorms as high winds pose a threat of falling branches. The BBC online weather service is used to make judgements for each session. Safety of all participants is our priority.
The woodland includes a large parachute, wooden cabin and other temporary structures which provide space for the participants so even in prolonged wet weather most activities can still be undertaken.
Cancellation and Postponement procedures
In the case of extreme weather and no suitable alternative venue being available, Stocks Wood Outdoor Centre staff may need to cancel sessions at short notice. Whenever possible, these will be rescheduled or you will be reimbursed for what you have paid. Travel and other costs cannot be reimbursed.
In the case of Stocks Wood Outdoor Centre staff being ill every effort will be made to seek replacement staff or to reschedule. If this is not possible a refund will be offered.
Where groups cancel their attendance less than a week in advance of a session/sessions the session(s) will be rescheduled if possible. If it is not possible to reschedule, the group is liable to be charged for the session(s) missed.
If you cancel your booking and are unable to give more than 48 hours' notice you will be expected to pay the full cost of the session you have booked.
Please ensure that your child is dropped-off no earlier than 9.45am and picked up no later than 3.10pm. Thank you.
