Poor Weather Procedures
The safety of our visitors is our priority.

The BBC online weather service, along with the Met Office are used to support our judgements for each session.

Sessions will be postponed at our discretion according to several factors, including sustained high winds and sustained torrential rain or thunderstorms.

Strong gales forecast (47-55mph) will require sessions to be postponed.

Our discretion will be used to decide whether sessions require postponement if fresh gales (39-46mph) are forecast. This decision is based on several factors including the frequency of the winds and the current wetness of the ground.

The woodland includes a large parachute, Cabin and other temporary structures which provide space for the participants so even in prolonged wet weather most activities can still be undertaken.

Session Cancellation and Postponement Procedures
In the case of extreme weather and no suitable alternative venue being available, Stocks Wood Outdoor Centre staff may need to cancel sessions at short notice. Whenever possible, these will be rescheduled.

In the case of Stocks Wood Outdoor Centre staff being ill every effort will be made to seek replacement staff or to reschedule. If this is not possible a refund will be offered.

Family sessions, Acorns Pre-School and Nightline: If you cancel your booking and are unable to give at least 72 hours' notice you will be expected to pay the full cost of the session you have booked.

Cancelled sessions where at least 72 hours’ notice has been provided will incur a 5% charge taken off the refund.

Schools and Community groups:

Whenever possible we will endeavor to reschedule a cancelled session.

Bookings cancelled up to 20 working days before visiting us will require a cancellation fee, even if the cancelled session is rescheduled, as other groups could have booked the cancelled session instead.

Cancelled bookings from 11 to 20 working days before the visit will be charged 50% of the session cost.

Cancelled bookings from 6 to 10 working days before the visit will be charged 75% of the session cost.

Cancelled bookings up to 5 working days before the visit will be charged 100% of the session cost.
