New to Stocks Wood… Nightline

Nightline is a fun and challenging sensory experience in a woodland setting.

Blindfolded participants lead each-other along our rope course - over, under and through a range of obstacles. There are several routes and everyone will also have the opportunity to (without blacked-out goggles) lead a blindfolded friend through the course again, this time describing what obstacles they will meet and how to tackle them.

Each session requires a minimum of 1 adult in the group.

The suggested minimum age for this activity is 7 years of age (please contact us if you would like to bring children a little younger than this).

Sessions last 1.5 hours with approximately one hour on the Nightline course.

Hard hats (provided) must be worn at all times inside the Nightline course.

The course does involve crawling, climbing over, under and through a range of obstacles.

Sessions must be booked through our online booking system. IF THERE ARE NO SESSIONS CURRENTLY AVAILABLE PLEASE CONTACT US TO DISCUSS DATES.

What will you need to wear?

  • Comfortable outdoor clothing and footwear. Long trousers and long sleeves are strongly recommended. Waterproofs will be required if the weather is wet. The paths are covered in bark chippings but can get soggy. Gloves are optional but advisable.

What will you expect when you arrive?

  • Julian will meet you in the Stocks Wood carpark.

  • After walking down the Forest School steps to the Nightline course you will be provided with a safety briefing and kitted out with blacked-out goggles and a hard-hat.

  • You will be split into small groups with each person having one hand on the course rope and their other hand on the shoulder of the person in front of them. Participants will take turns to be the leader of their group.

  • Each group will be sent off around the course, with Julian providing any required guidance. Different available routes allow for all participants to be on the course at the same time.

  • Once completed, everyone will return to the start and complete the course again (choosing varied routes), but this time in pairs with one person who is not wearing a blindfold communicating to their partner how to tackle each stage of the course.

  • A third trip through the course will allow pairs to swap over so everyone gets the opportunity to support their partner with verbal guidance.

  • Stocks Wood souvenirs will be available to purchase (cash or bank transfer).

  • Kit will be collected in and the group will return to the carpark up our accessible path.
